bug collections at your favorite eatery

ok, so i'm sitting with sarah at a "better-than-average" restaurant, enjoying a lazy late lunch on a friday afternoon and my overactive mind spies this! 4 lovely hand-blown, lights hanging above a counter that fronts the wood-fired oven. but, my mind wonders, why is the bottom 2 inches of each of these fixtures so dark? wtf i think (or maybe i said it, you'll have to ask sarah), why can't i just keep my eyes locked on the person i'm with, or on my food when i'm in an eatery? why indeed. because the 2 inches of darkness is a collection of dead bugs! 4 lights, 2 inches, 8 inches of dead bugs. by my unorthodox mathematematical projections, about a million dead flies and mosquitoes and moths and GROSS hanging over my pizza oven!

please dear favorite eateries, clean out your light fixtures once a month...put it on the checklist...do it yourself owner-person!
